You do not want to have a tattoo that is going to cause an infection because the tattoo artist did not use sterile equipment.
If infection sets in there is a possibility it could affect the look of your tattoo and maybe even force you to have it removed so you can start all over again. Since removing a tattoo is more difficult than doing it initially, it will be rather expensive to do. However, if the shop is reputable and they made the mistake they should be willing to do whatever is necessary to remove the original tattoo without any cost to you.
Taking the time to choose a tattoo artist will save you time, money and pain because you will only have to do the procedure once. It is better to do it right the first time—a good reason for take time to find a good tattoo artist.
